Very pleasant stay and high standard for a backpacker, the host are also very pleasant and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home.

Gentle Country Cottage
We loved Shawswood and our 2 boys, Jordan and Jean, said it was their best cottage on the entire road trip - where we stayed in 9 cotttages! thank you Bundy and Wendy for a wonderful setting, beaut cottage and time to find ourselves again in one of our favourite parts of SA!

Breath of country air
My husband and I have just spent two nights in what we thought would be a very rustic cottage - however when you go inside it is cosy and very comfortable . When they talk of "lovingly restored' , here they have really meant it . Our hosts Wendy and Bundy were very warm and friendly . Our only regret .... we could not stay for another two nights ! It was also nice and close to the Karkloof MTB club so we were able to get in a good bit of cycling on some awesome tracks. A wonderful weekend and a highly recommended retreat from city life .

We enjoyed our stay at this unique place and we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and the kindness and pleasant atmosphere. The owners are very friendly and helpful during our stay. during our stay it was extremely foggy and it was raining. Mr Shaw took care of us to reach the main road safely. Thanks for everything.

Lovely!
Scott and I had a lovely stay at Shawswood. The room and ablutions are clean and in great condition, as is the lovely communal kitchen.
Also worth noting that despite the chilly weather, the room was warm and well insulated. We also has HOT water and that's always a bonus.
We will definitely be returning. Thanks Wendy for your hospitality!

Clean comfortable and affordable
Shawswood was excellent! It is clean comfortable and absolutely beautiful! The hosts Bundy and Wendy went out of their way to see that everything is perfect! It is a rustic setting and has all the basics needed! If you travel in groups and only want to get away from everything this is a perfect place to go!
