Rubicon Guest House & Conference

Our recent stay at Rubicon guesthouse was extremely unpleasant, and I would not recommend it to anyone. The R600 is completely unjustified based on the following: 1. Upon arrival the reception desk was unsure at to whether we have indeed booked and our arrival was quite a surprise to the hostess despite having a confirmation in hand and it being recorded in the reservation book at reception. 2. The facility does not offer safe parking for their guests and we were requested to park at the back, inside a play area, with no sufficient parking or security. They had only 1 key for the lock and we were expected to arrange with other guests as to the time they will be arriving, to secure our vehicle. Eventually we parked on the pavement, in front of the room, with no security. 3. The shower had no water on Sunday morning, their is no mirror in the bathroom, and insufficient toilet paper was provided, the dustbin lid is also detached from the bin and their is no curtains in the bathroom and toilet. 4. The beds are very soft and has been around for a very long time, and in dire need of replacement. It is clear that there is little competition in Ventersdorp!
Establishment's Response:
The parking of our guests vehicles is in an enclosed area for security purposes and each room has a key to this area. There is a jungle gym for the children, should they wish to play, also in the enclosed area as to keep them safe. We did profusely apologise for the water shortage on Sunday morning, but as it was a municipal problem and the whole town had no water, we tried our best under the circumstances. We are looking at alternative water resources to avoid these unfortunate incidents in future. The complaint of the beds of these guests came as a huge surprise, as it is new beds. This is the first complaint regarding our beds. Some people do like soft beds. We regret that your experience in our town compelled you to place this comment, but do hope that we explained the situation to your satisfaction and would like the opportunity to redeem ourselves.

I would never stay there again. The manager didnt answer her phone to come and open up the place when I called her many times. The room is also next to the main road so the lorries woke me up at 5am. The wifi didnt work as promised.

Mr Mitchell we did offer our apology to you by mail on the day you departed, but received no response.

On the Friday prior to you arrival our service provider for the wi-fi assured us there would be no problem, but clearly there was.

On the Sunday when you experienced the problem, I myself did contact the relations person of our service provider, who in turn contacted the area manager. Unfortunately he was in no position to help us from his side. On the Monday they had to send out the technicians again.

I did however try to help you from my side, but Ms Cronje assured me that you will make another plan the following day.

We do take pride in our establishment and are very sorry for you experience.
