Breathtaking scenery
Absolutely beautiful eco lodge!

Delightful Eco Bush Retreat
Very simple but absolutely meets the needs of a great value bush retreat. Attentive staff, beautiful landscape, soul lifting walks and hikes, comfortable beds, clean, cool chalets, great food. And despite being only 4km off the N1, tucked away in a hidden valley you feel as if you are deep in the bush with only the sounds of birds, insects, monkeys and baboons.

Service was superb. Great location. Very warm welcome.
But...
Not having a kettle or minibar in the rooms makes it less than ideal for traveling with toddlers. (I must add that we were initially booked to stay in a safari tent which is even less ideal for toddlers, but we were accommodated in a another room at no extra cost within 20m of arriving.)
The place has lots of potential and is set in breathtaking surroundings, but the experience was a bit surreal at times. On NYE the main course of the dinner consisted of rump steak and a big bowl of yellow rice. By 9PM the already unimaginative music was replaced by some hardcore metal music. In general the lodge has the air of a place that could easily fetch twice its rate per night if only some basics (including the dirt road leading to the lodge, air-conditioning, bar fridge, on-site kiosk for basic snacks etc) were given some attention.
Since the service was superb (all our requests were speedily and warmly accommodated) I am not sure where the disconnect is happening, but I sincerely hope the owner steps in and saves a potentially breathtaking lodge from demise.)

Transition
We like the area for its outstanding biodiversity. Due to management changes we experienced some problems, but we were granted free beverages for the inconvenience. Generally good value for money.
