Unexpected challenges
Overall we had a very nice time in Paternoster. Komyntjie 3 is a cute little cottage for you and your significant other to keep an eye on the local birdlife and enjoy the sea air. A bunch of really (really!!) good restaurants are withing easy walking distance and so is the beautiful beach! We spent hours sitting on the deck and just.. well.. sitting and having a nice glass of wine. :) There are a couple of things to know about this little haven though...
- Paternoster has become a petty crime hotspot, there are numerous reports of burglaries, theft through house windows and smashed car windows - AND NO ONE TELLS YOU THIS. Thankfully we weren't victims. Expecting to get away from burglar bars and alarms? Not in Paternoster.
- Most bookings in Paternoster go through Paternoster Rentals irrespective where you book from and to be honest, their service isn't great.
- Komyntjie is in the not-so-nice part of town...
- There are a million Harley Davidsons that drive past this unit over the weekend and they are noisy.

A compact and inviting pad
This unit is well situated a few metres from the beach with a fine sea view. It is beautifully appointed with a particularly effective bathroom and shower. The patio is comfortable and lends itself to quiet contemplation of the sea and the beach. Interesting fireplaces inside and out, though we did not use them.

Unpretentious but adequate - value for money
Old but functional. Central situation, roomy, supplied with all necessities, everything worked - fridge, geyser, TV, microwave. Access very steep for oldies, windows were more stuck than opening and the awkward heavy shutters on to the open terrace were noisy and difficult. The terrace door had no key which would have been better.
