Klipspringer Safari Lodge

We are "South Africa Junkies" since some years. It does not matter which plane we board - we alway end up in South Africa. We have been to the Kruger several times, always staying "inside", like Olifants Camp Nashuwe Guest House or similar. This was the first time we stayed outside the Park due to South African school holidays. We were greeted by Ann at the gate to Silonque Game Reserve, just a few miles outside Phalaborwa and taken to Klipspringer Lodge. On the way we already saw wildebeest and buffalows. The camp is small (3 two-bed units only) but very cosy and private. You feel immediately at home and excellently take care of by Ann and Matthew. There is a private waterhole just outside the fence. We were greeted by buffalo and giraffe. Breakfast and dinner are excellent (all homecooked by Ann). We were taken on a short nightwalk and an almost two hours nightdrive by Matthew, who moves, acts and has to my opinion almost the knowledge of a professional Park Ranger. We stayed three nights and wanted to drive every day to the Kruger Park. We decided to go there only once and stayed the other day at Klipspringer Lodge and took a Boat Cruise at Olifants River. It was marvellous. This was definitely not the last time we stayed at Klipspringer Lodge. Thank you Ann and Matthew for the outstanding experience at your home. We had a fantastic safari experience, and were more than well looked after. However the Lodge was not completed,which meant that a lot of the facilities were not available.for instance no outside shower and no proper inside shower either(hand held).also no door to seperate the toilet from the bedroom.the dam was still not full and the look out was not completed though building work was obviously still in progress. I feel sure that when all is completed it will be fantastic. <> OP Reply:Yep the builders were behind schedule, surprise surprise however we hope this did not detract from the Hudsons holiday, indeed they have told us they will be back in 3 years time. The building works are now completed and with all our recent rain the dam is full!!!
