A Place in Paradise
We arrived at the lodge and our first sighting was of a magnificent panorama exposure to a large section of the Drakensberg. The management was welcoming, efficient, friendly and provided us with whatever we required. We could not have asked for better service.
The rooms were spacious, very comfortable and have views that are remarkable. The hiking was challenging which is what we sought. There are easier hikes as well.
It is a little bit of heaven tucked away in an area of tranquility but easily accessible and close proximity to many towns and cities.

Family getaway
We, as a family, enjoyed our stay at the Barnhouse. Although it was cold for October, the hearth was warm.

Winter weekend getaway
We had a wonderful time at this resort. The staff are so friendly and accommodating of any special requests. The view is breathtaking and the accommodation is great, warmed by numerous fireplaces. A highly recommended choice for a tranquil winter getaway.

Best view of Northern Drakensberg
We are so happy we found this place! It is very remote and you share the farm with- apart from a few other guests- about 80 wild horses. And it will be really hard to find another place with such a fantastic view of the Northern Drakensberg - we couldn't take our eyes off it! There is a wide variety of hikes in the area. And, on top of all this, Gerry and Elna are lovely hosts and their team offers wonderful service. We highly recommend this place!

Beautiful relaxing landscape
Warm hospitality, beautiful views, cosy fireplaces, comfy beds, makes this a great holiday destination. Also walking trails. On top of a hill, with full view of drakensberge, from retiefklip to cathkin. We were blessed with snow on the mountains. We are going back!

Highly recommended
We came here for a one night stay from Pretoria after booking at short notice online. We found the prices excellent value for money. As we didn't have much time here we thoroughly enjoyed the instantly relaxing atmosphere and an unexpected candlelit dinner followed by cups of tea by one of the many woodburners that heat the house downstairs. We even had time to take a short guided hike in the morning down the mountain to see some cave paintings with a spectacular view. We plan on coming back again soon and have already recommended to family and friends.
