Beautiful old home in lovely garden - but needs work
Beautiful old home in a lovely garden with magnificent trees. Good quality food at very reasonable prices.

Disappointed
Canefields looked good from the outside, and the staff were friendly. However, the accommodation was not up to standard. The room needs a complete makeover from bedding to carpets to fittings. All old, shabby, stained, broken. We had to work hard to stay positive.
Establishment's response
In conjunction with the General Manager of the hotel we have completed a thorough investigation of this particular guests' experience and have the following findings to report:
The hotel is at present undergoing a huge refurbishment. The hotel was in fact fully booked at the time of this guests' stay, this was made clear to the guest when he made his reservation; it was explained to him that he would be given the best 'available' room - unfortunately all the newly refurbished rooms were occupied.
We are extremely sorry about this guests' experience, and, as a result of his review we have decided to block out the last three rooms left to be refurbished, until they have been completed. Although we had put our rates really low during this renovation period we now realise that allowing them to be used for bookings has led to misunderstandings.
I will also be contacting the guest directly to make amends for his disappointment. Once again many thanks for your assistance in bringing this to our attention...we pride ourselves on our guest service and happy, satisfied guests are our priority.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any information or assistance - I would be delighted to help.
Yours sincerely
