Calais Wine Estate

The cottage is so badly equipped. The website says "fully equipped", that is absolutely not true. There were hardly any utensils in the kitchen, we couldn't find a pair of scissors, no bread knife, no egg lifters and the list goes on and on. We even had to ask for a braai tongs and then had to keep washing them so that we could move the wood and charcoal first and then turn the meat as there wasn't even one pair to start with never mind two. And so the list goes on. The TV was so snowy that we couldn't watch it and the batteries in the TV remote had leaked so badly that the remote was damaged and couldn't be used so we had to keep getting up to change the channel. No tiles for bricks outside to even resemble some sort of patio and the cottage faces onto the manager's house. Overrated and over expensive for what it is.

We had a wonderful short stay, would have liked to be there longer. It is beautiful, neat,clean and very peaceful. We'll be back. Karlien Willer
