Bulembu Country Lodge
Bulembu Country Lodge is in my view "5 star luxury". It has everything: peacefulness, lovely nature, hospitality, good food and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. We were, on arrival, welcomed at our car, checked in and taken to our room. We were in room 6. The bed was absolutely comfortable. The bathroom had shampoos, soap, etc. The room was equipped with a kettle, coffee, tea, etc and wonderfully no TV. You can enjoy tea and instant or filter coffee, which is included in the tariff, sunder under the shade of the trees. We had dinner and breakfast, which were prepared well and served tastefully. To my mind dinner was a bit on the pricey side (R120 for a main course and dessert) albeit that was good. This is a place where you come just to relax, visit the village, the museum and relax. Un fortunately we only stayed for one night, but we will go back again for longer. The R40 road from Barberton is a pleasure to drive on, all tarred and you enjoy and learn from the geotrail as well.
I have never come across friendly border officials, but those at both Josefsdal and Bulembu were. It is 2 km from the border to the village and the road can be driven by a normal sedan car.
The rooms were excellent, soap, towels, hot shower water, kitchen fully equipped.
Meals at the restaurant we excellent.
when one of our motorbikes fell into the river quite far away, and would not start, 4 guys willingly came to help and towed the bike up the perpendicular mountain at a running pace.
I see a goal for Bulembu is to raise leaders, and we saw high quality leaders being raised up.
All i can say is, Well Done!
You will see us again.
